Recently, a stairclimber was purchased at the Ivan Bobersky Lviv State University of Physical Culture. This purchase was made as part of the formation and implementation of state policy to ensure unhindered access to infrastructure for all population groups. This stairclimber which is designed to carry a passenger in their own wheelchair.
The university’s policy is aimed at creating conditions for providing educational services to all segments of the population, regardless of the level of preserved motor abilities.
Moving up and down stairs is a serious obstacle for people with musculoskeletal disorders, as wheelchairs are not adapted for moving up stairs, and the stairs themselves are not always equipped with ramps. Using a stair climber will help overcome these difficulties, improve the mobility of people with disabilities, people in wheelchairs and people with visual impairments. This, in turn, will contribute to their socialization, access to education, employment and other important aspects of life.
